How An Ordinary Guy Became A Memory Grandmaster

by Twist on September 6, 2007

I found an article about Scott Hagwood awhile back. Just amazing. He had a crappy memory like I do. But he had to go in for thyroid surgery and they told him he might lose some memory functions. He did what I think I would have, tried to improve his already bad memory.

He has gone on to win the USA Memory Championships and become the First American Grandmaster. In this article it says, ” To become a grandmaster, Hagwood had to perform this memory feat on seven decks of cards within an hour, followed by memorizing a single shuffled deck in less than three minutes. At last count he could memorize nine decks of cards in 60 minutes and a single deck in 90 seconds.”

This is what out of shape women feel like when they see that someone normal regained their shaped after a new baby. This guy described his memory like mine. Of course I keep forgetting to check out his methods.
